In different hues and sizes
I saw a beautiful dove
With long pointed tail
And plump body
Feathered with black
And bordered with white
So innocent and care free.
Among the crowd
Someone threw a crumb of bread
And a piece of tiny cracker
The dove flapped its wings
But it did not fly
Instead it walked
Towards the bread crumb and cracker
Only to be trapped
By two big hands like iron.
