And two apples for his supper does not seem too much to eat
For one of the city’s homeless a poor child of the street.
A cruel and drunken father who beat him every day
And a mother who has sex with other men for her drug habit to pay
And like savaged cub in dark of night he crept out of the den
And came to live on hungry street still innocent of sin.
He needs someone to help him in his moments of despair
And for poor and homeless teenage boy does anybody care?
All due to circumstance of birth he live in sorry state
And all he need one trusting friend one true and trusting mate.
He needs someone to help him through his life’s most brittle
years
Or will he be left to perish and die in his own tears?
His bed a cold damp park bench and his roof a darkened sky
And the future doesn’t look rosy for a homeless teenage boy.
