They chase flying insects from dawn till gloam of day
And their borders stretch from here to far away
To shed rafters or house eaves their mud nests cling
And their breeding Season the Summer from the Spring
Dark with chestnut coloured throats tis an amazing sight
To see them twist and swerve when in full flight,
One cannot say of them that they are rare
Throughout Australia plentiful everywhere
unrestricted by space or by territory
The welcome swallows they are truly free
In their short lives they travel far and wide
Through City, Rural Town and Countryside.
