With head, thorax and abdomen
And legs of six or more
Some furry, some of hard shell
Some looking like demons from hell
Some innocent of their structure
Others deadly and beware
Four hundred million years of life on this land
Long before the thoughts of man
They crawl and they fly
Some are small and some are sly
Some have names exotic and beautiful
Silverfish, Walking stick and Humpbacked bristletail
Some from cocoons unfold
Beautiful, colourful, strange and enchanting
These are insects of the world
