And she and her husband Denis were good friends of my past
And good friendships it would seem to me separation outlast.
An email from Nuala Taylor a big surprise to me
And once more it re-ignited the flame of memory
Of saturday evenings in the Bush Bar in the Town of Millstreet
A place of song and dance and music and where friends used to meet
For a chat and a few guinnesses whilst the dancers took the floor
For to dance away their cares in life for two hours and sometimes more
Where the young and the not so young their night out did enjoy
Though the one in his early twenties in the mid eighties now dad to a teenage boy.
The Millstreet I grew up in is a different place today
And those I went to school with are now showing their years in gray
And the changes keep on happening or so it would appear
And at home I’d feel a stranger now just going by what I hear.
An email from Nuala Taylor I could scarce believe my eyes
Something I had not expected yet a wonderful surprise
In the Parish I once lived in so many years ago
I’m not completely forgotten does seem rather nice to know.
