Our life span is short four decades little more
We are like grains of sand on Mother Earth’s timeless shore,
We are born bare and helpless we live to multiply
And our prime years go quickly we soon age and die
Even those who are honoured in story and rhyme
The legends of their greatness will fade out in time
In a thousand years from now and in real time that is not long
The heroes of our day won’t be honoured in song
The people we look up to and refer to as great
Are mere mortals like us on them a use by date
And the egalatarian reaper he does not discriminate
Between the President and the pauper he does not differentiate.
