somewhere is a friend
that one day I want to see.
From the dry boned deserts
to the rainforest sheltering trees
somewhere is a friend
that one day I want to see.
This world is a big old place
with a lifetime worth to see
whether travelling down dust plumed roads
or sailing across white crested waves.
Adventures are always waiting
only a daydream away
where somewhere is a friend
that one day I want to see.
Too many times we live our lives
trapped in little boxes
made from wood, concrete and steel
to which no light penetrates
and to get around we must feel
overcoming obstacles by touch alone,
while a world full of light waits for us
to leave and find our home.
Feeling the sun burn our skin
and blind our eyes.
Feeling the breeze’s cooling touch
as the sunset calls.
To sleep the sleep of a million raptures
and dream of far distant shores.
Somewhere is a friend
one day I want to see and feel.
