to those who knew them briefly.
Their passing leaves sadness,
but also leaves joy
that they are no longer suffering
from our mortal wounds
as they leave traces
of what they were
in the hearts of others who knew them
in small and different ways.
They live on in others
long after they are gone,
after the pain has eased
on the sorrowing hearts.
