On one your mother gave you birth
On the other you are taught to swim
Get you taste the touch and make you dream
Smell the soil, hear the gushing of water
Make you familiar with the faces of gorges and cliffs,
And like a gust of wind you are at full ease
to sing the song of life on the hills of emotions
As you wept and laughed in your mother’s lap
In best possible music when you were a child
Both in low and high pitch without having
The knowledge of beats and tunes
Without knowing the turns and curves
of rhyme and rhythm.
