Top class cricket in the colours of Australia
In test matches in Countries far away.
He dreams he’ll be as famous as Don Bradman
And his portrait hang in cricket hall of fame
And that with his bat he’ll top all previous records
And cricket people will revere his name.
He will be nine years old on his next birthday
And to his mum young Darren often say
You will feel proud of me when I’m an adult
For I will be a famous man one day.
But Darren will never play cricket for Australia
As circumstance has already seen to that
The doctors say he won’t walk from his wheel chair
Still in his dreams he swings a cricket bat.
The young fellow next door his name is Darren
He sits on wheel chair by the garden gate
He says I will be famous as Don Bradman
And for Australia be a cricket great.
