Around Coomlogane and Millstreet Town he will never more be seen
Though good memories of the man himself will remain evergreen.
Back there in the fifties Michael was in his prime
And memories with me of the man he was have not faded in time
We were not easy boys to teach and quite hard to control
And there can be much mischief in a young and restless soul.
The patience of Michael Corkery we did set out to try
And teaching it must have been so hard for one who was so shy
He left Millstreet many years ago and him i never see again
But memories of the man he was today with me remain.
Though him we will remember in the flesh him we never more will see
And a similar bell that tolled for Michael will one day toll for you and me
We were not easy pupils that he surely did know
Way back there in the fifties some fifty years ago.
