For years they lived under the one roof but they did not share the same bed
All good and bad feelings are dead in the dead.
That they be buried in the one grave was their daughter’s idea
And for her sake alone to that they did agree
Divided in life though at peace they now lay
The dead cannot quarrel and peaceful they stay.
They did love each other in their younger years
But he liked his women and he liked his beers
She resented him having his bit on the side
And that was offensive to her sense of pride.
Divided in life and united in death
The dead past the feelings of joy, love, hate and regret
They did love each other as a young groom and bride
And re-united and at peace now they lay side by side.
United in death though divided in life
He once was her her husband and she was his wife
In life their feelings of apathy towards each other they could not even hide
And their marriage long over before they had died.
