In the heat of the Summer the sun glows in the sky
And the paddocks are brown and the drains are bone dry.
In Castlemaine in Central Victoria the Winters are cold
Yet the yellow blooms on the wattles are lovely to behold
The Hometown of Chantelle Newberry the winner of Olympic Gold
Of her dives to glory great stories are told.
Jack Doolin the Bushranger a notorious outlaw
In a gunfight with three troopers he proved quick on the draw
He wounded one shot dead another but a bullet from the third brought him to ground
From Castlemaine and in Castlemaine stories of him still abound.
The paddocks green in Castlemaine from recent heavy showers
Those paddocks that in a few weeks will wear their bright Spring flowers
But in the Summer’s wind and sun they will look brown and bare
Still magpie’s flute will sound quite sweet in Summer’s warm air
Castlemaine in Central Victoria is Chantelle Newberry’s Hometown
In the Olympic diving pool in Athens she dived her way into renown
And despite the recent heavy rains the drains are still bone dry
And the sun shines bright on Castlemaine and not a rain cloud in the sky.
